How It Happened...
PART I
It all started out innocently enough.  I had always liked the Karmann Ghia and thought maybe one day I would be able to pick one up.  When I started tentatively looking, I became really interested in the KG convertible.  Over about the next six months I looked and looked for a KG 'vert that would suit my needs.  One day while checking out TheSamba.com I came across someone wanting to trade a Porsche 356 for a beetle.  Intrigued and having the '59 available for a possible trade, I took a look.  Lo and behold - it was a giant piece of **** !  but, at that moment, I knew I was headed in a new direction with VW's.  Being basically a similiar car and designed by the same person, and having done a successful restoration on the '59, I felt that I would be able to effect a restoration on a 356.  Beginning in November 2003 I purchased two 356 coupes at a reasonable price from a fellow in Indiana.  We took a Sunday off and went and got them - a relatively uneventfull ride.  The story to the left begins with these two cars.  More to be added as the story develops ( which it will...! )
